Smooth nasolabial folds, smile lines, fill wrinkles, restore/enhance volume to cheeks and lips.
A large range of fillers are available for soft tissue augmentation which help to soften lines and folds, define features and restore volume loss. At Acqua Skin Clinic, with safety in mind, only non- permanent fillers are used. Three excellent types of non-permanent fillers used are hyaluronic acid (Juvéderm™, Restylane, Teosyal), calcium hydroxylapatite (Radiesse), and poly-L-lactic acid (Sculptra).
Dermal fillers offer a safe and effective non-surgical option for smoothing facial wrinkles and folds. In fact, they are the fastest growing non-surgical aesthetic procedure in the United States according to the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery. But all dermal fillers are not the same!
Radiesse® is a safe, next generation cosmetic dermal filler that lasts longer than any other non- permanent filler. It is setting a new standard for the correction of facial lines and wrinkles, restoring a natural, youthful look in an easy, convenient treatment. Numerous medical studies have shown that Radiesse is a safe, long lasting treatment to fill and correct smile lines, nasolabial folds, wrinkles around the nose and mouth, and enhance or restore volume to the cheeks. The results of a Radiesse treatment are immediate. Radiesse dermal filler typically lasts more than a year (18 months on average), saving you time and money.
Radiesse stimulates the skin to build a collagen matrix that contributes to healthy, firm, younger looking skin. Extensive research on the use of Radiesse, demonstrates significant increases in new collagen production.
Radiesse is made of unique calcium-based microspheres that are suspended in a natural gel that is injected into the skin through a simple, safe and minimally invasive procedure. Through years of clinical studies and independent research, Radiesse has proven to be safe and effective. With Radiesse, you get safe, FDA approved, clinically tested reliability.
The procedure involves injecting a compound of calcium hydroxyl apatite microspheres that are suspended in a carboxymethylcellulose gel. Calcium and phosphate ions, naturally occurring in our bodies, primarily make up the calcium hydroxyl apatite particles. The gel contains an organic compound of carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen, as well as glycerin and sterile water. The Radiesse filler is injected beneath the skin, under the dermis and subcutis layer in a continuous stream through a very fine needle into the appropriate facial planes needed for augmentation and correction. Depending upon the extent of treatment, the procedure can take up to 30 minutes. Thin connective tissue forms around the microspheres so that the microspheres act as a filler that remains permanently implanted at the site location.
Over time, the natural volume of youthful skin begins to decrease as wrinkles and folds form. With Juvéderm injectable gel, you don't have to just sit back and let it happen! Juvéderm is a “next-generation” dermal filler. The smooth consistency gel helps to instantly restore your skin's volume and smooth away facial wrinkles and folds, like your "smile lines" or “parentheses” (nasolabial folds—the creases that run from the bottom of your nose to the corners of your mouth). Juvéderm is a smooth consistency non-animalgel made of hyaluronic acid—a naturally occurring substance in your skin that helps to add volume and hydration. At Acqua Skin Clinic, the doctor eases Juvéderm under the skin to provide a smooth, natural look and feel—so everyone will notice (but no one will know)! In fact, studies show superior results of Juvéderm compared to a collagen-based dermal filler. In a recent study, almost 90% of all study patients who were treated with both Juvéderm and a collagen-based filler preferred Juvéderm! Juvéderm is the longest lasting hyaluronic acid filler with an average duration of 9 months.
Advanced technology for long-lasting results: Juvéderm injectable gel employs its unique manufacturing process to provide the highest concentration of cross-linked hyaluronic acid of any currently available hyaluronic acid dermal filler for long-lasting results. This advanced manufacturing process also creates a smooth consistency gel that flows consistently and easily into the skin and provides a smooth, natural look and feel. Juvéderm has one of the smoothest consistency gel formulations of the hyaluronic acid fillers.
Hyaluronic Acid is a substance found naturally in the body’s connective tissue that cushion and lubricates the joints. Researchers have found such as in the Archives of Dermatology, Feb. 2007, that fillers such as Juvéderm and Resylane actually stretch the collagen producing cells which stimulate the growth of new collagen.
With Juvéderm the injection process takes only about 30 minutes and results are immediate. No allergy skin tests are needed prior to receiving treatment. Plus, there's minimal recovery or downtime. So you can step into your doctor's office for treatment and step right back into your life.
Commonly known as Restylane, Captique or Hylaform, cosmetic fillers are made of a safe and natural substance called Hyaluronic Acid which works by restoring volume and fullness to the skin. Cosmetic fillers are normally injected into deep facial folds and wrinkles in order to smooth out areas such as nasolabial folds, also known as smile lines, and into the lips for lip augmentation and plumping.
The way your skin looks is directly related to the way your skin is supported. As we age, the natural support layers in the skin break down resulting in the formation of wrinkles. Cosmetic fillers add volume lost during the aging process by temporarily smoothing out facial lines and wrinkles. Restylane is injected just under the skin’s surface in order to temporarily correct wrinkles. This is a simple procedure which can be done during your lunch hour. You will see immediate results lasting about 6 months.

Most people feel comfortable in resuming their normal activities following treatment. Temporary swelling and minor bruisingof the treated areas, however, should be expected for a period of 1 to 5 days.

Hyaluronic acid (HA) is a naturally occuring mucopolysaccharide (sugar-like substance) present in abundance in animals and bacteria. It is present between cells, collagen, elastin, in the eye and in the joint fluid, and provides support, nourishment and hydration by binding hundreds of molecules of water for every molecule of HA. As we age, the amount of HA in tissues decreases. In cosmetic medicine, HA is derived from bacteria, purified and cross-linked. Cross-linking stabilises the molecules, providing a more viscous gel that gives more volume and lasts longer.
Hyaluronic Acid (HA) is injected directly into or under the skin to give an instant effect. The effect depends on the site and depth of injection, technique used, and volume of material injected. It is used to instantly soften lines, wrinkles and folds or to enhance and define features such as lips, cheekbones or chin.
Hyaluronic acid fillers include Juvederm, Restylane, Perlane, Restylane SubQ, Teosyal Deep lines, Teosyal Global Action, Teosyal Kiss, and Hydrafill. When it comes to results, the technique and skill of the operator are more important than which HA is used.
Hyaluronic Acid (HA) fillers have a high safety profile, meaning serious side-effects are rare. Swelling and mild bruising can occur as with any injectable procedure. Some slight bumpiness following injections can occur at the injection site but this settles in a couple of days. It is quite safe to inject additional HA filler into an already treated area to further augment and improve the result.
Depending on the type of HA filler used, results can last from 6 months up to a 18 months plus. This is discussed prior to treatment.
Calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA) in the form of Radiesse is a biocompatible facial implant consisting of CaHA microspheres suspended in a carboxymethylcellulose gel carrier. The CaHA contains the same minerals found in bone and teeth and provides a scaffolding for tissue ingrowth as the gel carrier is broken down.
Radiesse (CaHA) is used to soften deep lines from the nose-to-mouth, mouth corners and especially to define and enhance features such as cheek augmentation, and filling tear trough imperfactions which. After injection, the surrounding collagen and tissue is stimulated to grow inwards. As it does, it grows into the scaffolding of microspheres and replaces the gel carrier. Results are seen immediately because of the filling effect of the gel, but this ingrowth and lasting effect takes a few weeks.
No, the doctor first applies a block to the area. Fillers are injected directly into the skin using a fine needle and the treatment is then painless. The local anaesthetic effect wears off in about an hour.
If there is swelling or redness after the injection you should minimize your exposure to sun and UV lamp. Within the first 24 hours, patients should avoid strenuous exercise, extensive sun or heat exposure and alcoholic beverages as exposure may cause temporary redness and swelling at injection sites. Minor swelling and bruising may be present for 2 to 5 days post treatment.
Make-up may be applied a few hours after treatment if no complications are present such as open wounds, bleeding and infection.
Your skin will still look smoother than before you started, since collagen has been stimulated to grow and the lines and folds have been supported with the filler during the period of treatment. However, correction will reduce gradually, the normal aging process will continue, and creases are likely to slowly return.
Radiesse (CaHA) tends to last longer than HA fillers--18months plus--and are preferred in certain situations for this reason.
